Dubai Police to host first international K9 show celebrating canine heroes

Dubai Police is set to launch its first-ever International K9 Show from April 18 to 20 at the Dubai Police Officers Club, spotlighting the vital role of police dogs through thrilling demonstrations, family-friendly activities, and global knowledge exchange.

The three-day event will feature live dog shows, competitions, workshops, and interactive zones, offering the public a closer look at how K9s contribute to law enforcement and public safety.

“This inaugural K9 event is a step forward in creating a dedicated platform for police dog units, showcasing our expertise in training and deploying K9s for security and rescue operations,” said Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police. “It also opens the door for knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices among global experts.”

Over 30 international exhibitors will take part, including dog trainers, breeders, and organizations specializing in pet health, training, and nutrition. The event will include agility training demos, detection exercises, and rescue showcases by Dubai Police’s own K9 unit.

Lieutenant Colonel Salah Al Mazrouei, Director of the K9 Security Inspection Unit, said, “With their unique abilities, K9s are indispensable partners in complex missions and rescue operations at the local, regional, and international levels.”

He added that the event has a strong community focus: “This show is not only a chance to boost the performance of our K9 units, but also a chance to connect with specialists from across the globe, explore cutting-edge technologies, and learn from leading experts.”

Families can expect fun-filled activities like face painting, dog fashion walks, an art zone called “Doggy Doodles,” and the chance to adopt a rescue dog at the dedicated “dog adoption alley.” On-site veterinary services will also be available for physical and psychological assessments of dogs.

The event is supported by Purina Pro Plan, Nestlé’s pet nutrition brand. “We invite families, pet lovers, and pet parents to be part of an engaging experience that combines education, entertainment, and a shared love for animals,” said Rayan Kesrouani, business executive officer for Nestlé Purina PetCare MENA.
