Carabao mango of the Philippines crowned the world’s sweetest mango variety

The Carabao mango from the Philippines has been hailed as the sweetest mango variety in the world, topping the global list curated by Asian SEA Story and sourced from FACTSYLUM.

According to the visual released, the Carabao mango—which has held a Guinness World Record since 1995 for being the sweetest—takes the number one spot among the top 10 mango varieties globally. Known for its vibrant golden yellow skin and melt-in-your-mouth texture, the Carabao mango continues to be a source of national pride for Filipinos.

The global ranking places India’s Alphonso mango in second, followed by Pakistan’s Chaunsa mango in third place. Other mango varieties making it to the list include Ataulfo mango from Mexico, Miyazaki mango from Japan, Diamond mango from Myanmar, and Honey Gold mango from Australia. Completing the top ten are Nam Dok Mai mango from Thailand, Julie mango from Jamaica, and Tommy Atkins mango from the United States.

The image, shared by Asian SEA Story, showcases not only the mangoes but also emphasizes their country of origin with accompanying flags, highlighting the global diversity and cultural pride behind each fruit.

This recognition not only honors the agricultural excellence of the Philippines but also underscores the country’s place on the international fruit map. The Department of Agriculture has often cited the Carabao mango’s exceptional sweetness and quality as a key export product, especially in markets across Asia, the Middle East, and North America.
