A quick-thinking resident in Ajman helped avert a potential tragedy after spotting a two-year-old boy dangerously perched on a balcony, police reported on Thursday.
The Arab expat noticed the child standing on a chair on the edge of the opposite building’s balcony while his parents were distracted. Without hesitation, she alerted the authorities, who responded immediately.
Upon investigation, police found that the parents were negligent in supervising the child. Legal action has been taken against them under Federal Law No. 3 of 2016, which focuses on child protection.
Ajman authorities honored the woman for her alertness and swift action. Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al-Matroushi, Director General of Police Operations, commended her strong sense of responsibility.
Officials also reminded the public about the importance of securing windows and balconies in high-rise homes, stressing that neglecting children’s safety could result in legal consequences in the UAE.
