Residents across the UAE are bracing for intense heat this week, with temperatures forecasted to spike as high as 45 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
The weather bureau noted that while conditions will generally stay fair and partly cloudy at times, internal regions are likely to experience extreme heat, with daytime highs ranging from 42°C to 46°C. Coastal and island areas aren’t far behind, expected to see temperatures between 40°C and 45°C. Meanwhile, mountain areas will remain slightly cooler, hovering between 31°C and 38°C.
Just this Monday, the heat index reached 45.9°C in both Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, and Tawiyah, Fujairah — marking some of the highest readings of the season so far.
As the mercury rises, the NCM has issued reminders for the public to stay safe: keep well-hydrated, minimize sun exposure during peak hours, opt for lightweight, light-colored clothing, and wear sun protection such as hats and sunglasses.
Winds are expected to be light to moderate, shifting between southeasterly and northeasterly directions at speeds of up to 30 km/h. Meanwhile, sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will stay slight.
