Revamped Jumeirah Beach to reopen in July as part of Dubai’s major public space upgrades

Dubai residents can look forward to enjoying a refreshed Jumeirah Beach this July, as the city prepares to unveil its newly upgraded shoreline ahead of the summer peak. The announcement was made during a recent Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) briefing, featuring key figures from Dubai Municipality under the ‘Meet the CEO’ series.

Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, outlined various improvements under way across infrastructure, public services, and green spaces. Among the highlights was the update from Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency, who confirmed that Jumeirah 1 Beach is nearly ready to welcome visitors once again.

The development is part of a broader Dh355 million project announced in 2024 to enhance Dubai’s coastline, including Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 beaches. Other upgrades include a 24/7 night beach in Deira and the emirate’s first floating pedestrian bridge at Al Mamzar.

“These projects are not just about aesthetics—they’re about creating accessible, inclusive spaces for everyone,” Anwahi said, emphasizing that work is progressing faster than scheduled.

The initiative aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to boost the length of public beaches by 400 percent. Recent figures already show strong demand, with Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 night-swimming beaches recording 1.5 million visits in just 18 months since their debut.

Beyond beach development, Dubai Municipality continues to expand its green cover. Anwahi shared that 600 trees are planted daily across the city, with nurseries producing 90 million seedlings annually using robotics and advanced tech.

He also touched on the ‘Community Councils’ project, which will see new majlis venues built in five areas: Nad Al Sheba 2, Al Awir 2, Al Barsha South 1, Al Warqaa 2, and Hatta—further strengthening community ties across the emirate.

Planning a beach day in July? Jumeirah 1 might just be your new favorite spot.
