Two men on trial after deadly argument over Dh180,000 ends in fatal stabbing at Dubai tower

Two men are now facing trial in Dubai after a violent altercation over a financial dispute led to the fatal stabbing of a Chinese national in his high-rise apartment at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The 40-year-old victim, identified as Z.H.S., died from a stab wound to the chest, which forensic experts confirmed struck his heart and caused instant death. The attack reportedly stemmed from a heated argument with two friends over an unpaid sum of Dh180,000.

According to a Khaleej Times report, citing official police investigations, the victim had invited the two suspects to his apartment. His wife, who is from another Asian country, said he asked her and her friends to leave the room shortly before the confrontation erupted. Moments later, she heard him scream and discovered him gravely wounded.

One suspect was found hiding in a stairwell, while the other was caught later that day in a nearby area while driving. Both men confessed, admitting they had purchased knives beforehand and planned to confront the victim over outstanding debts—Dh145,000 and Dh35,000 owed to them respectively. They claimed the victim denied owing the money and insulted them, sparking the fatal violence.

The case is currently under trial, with a court verdict expected soon.
