Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially completed all five phases of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development Project on the Bur Dubai side, significantly improving traffic flow and cutting travel time along the corridor from 80 minutes to just 12 minutes.
The final phase saw the inauguration of the fifth bridge at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street, providing motorists with a seamless route from Al Garhoud Bridge through Infinity Bridge, continuing to Port Rashid and the Waterfront Market.
According to the RTA, the revamped corridor now allows a five-minute drive from Jumeirah Street to Infinity Bridge and another five minutes from Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Road via Al Mina Street. Additionally, the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel project is also making progress, which will connect the end of the Infinity Bridge ramp in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej Street and Cairo Street.
“The corridor serves Deira and Bur Dubai, as well as several major development projects, including Dubai Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid. The total population served by the project is estimated at one million,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
This major infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance connectivity and support the growing transport needs of Dubai’s bustling urban areas.
