Kuwaiti authorities have detained two individuals suspected of using drones to smuggle illegal drugs into the Central Prison, the Ministry of Interior confirmed. The arrests took place in the Fintas and Saad Al-Abdullah areas, following an extensive investigation by the Anti-Narcotics Department under the General Department for Drug Control.
According to officials, the suspects, who were found to be illegally residing in Kuwait, allegedly used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to deliver narcotics directly to an inmate. In return, they reportedly received financial compensation for carrying out the smuggling operation.
Authorities highlighted the case as a stark example of the evolving tactics employed by drug traffickers. It also underscored the need for enhanced security measures within correctional facilities to counter such sophisticated methods.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and maintaining public safety. It also encouraged citizens and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to support ongoing national security efforts.
