A Dubai Misdemeanour Court has sentenced an Eastern European woman to one month in jail, imposed a fine of Dhs3,500, and ordered her deportation for causing damage to police property while under the influence of alcohol.
According to a Gulf Today report, the case began when the woman was detained at a Dubai police station on charges of alcohol abuse. During her detention, she reportedly became aggressive, deliberately breaking a chair and creating a disturbance. Her behaviour prompted law enforcement officials to escalate the matter to the Public Prosecution.
During the trial, the woman denied the accusations. Her lawyer argued for acquittal, citing a lack of criminal intent and claiming that her detention process was flawed. He also appealed for leniency.
However, the court dismissed the defence, emphasizing that being intoxicated does not absolve individuals from responsibility for their actions. The court found her guilty of the charges and enforced the sentence.
