flydubai to resume daily flights to Damascus starting June 1

Low-cost airline flydubai is set to restart daily commercial flights to Damascus beginning June 1, 2025, marking the first direct service by a UAE carrier to Syria in over 12 years.

The move comes after the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) gave the green light in April for flights to resume between the two countries.

Departing from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport, the relaunched route will connect passengers to Damascus International Airport just in time for the Eid Al Adha holiday and the busy summer travel season.

“Damascus was one of our earliest routes, and this relaunch underlines our ongoing commitment to connecting underserved markets to Dubai,” said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith, recalling the airline’s initial operations to the Syrian capital in 2009, which were suspended in 2012 due to the conflict.

Fares for the revived route start at AED 2,000 for Economy and AED 10,000 for Business Class.
