Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has reminded residents and businesses to comply with official rules governing the installation of advertising billboards and signages—or risk facing steep fines.
The warning comes as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the emirate’s visual standards, cleanliness, and public space quality, in line with Law No. 2 of 2012.
In a recent announcement shared on social media, the DMT highlighted that putting up or using a billboard without a valid or updated permit violates Article 66 of the law. The penalty starts at AED 2,000 for a first offense, doubles to AED 4,000 for a second violation, and climbs to AED 8,000 for any further breaches.
Officials emphasized that repeat violators would face compounding fines, stressing that enforcement is currently active.
The DMT urged the public to seek proper approvals before installing any advertising materials, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the city’s organized and visually cohesive appearance.
