Dubai’s budget airline flydubai is strengthening its European footprint with the launch of flights to four new cities—Chișinău, Iași, Riga, and Vilnius—set to roll out in phases starting this September.
Chișinău in Moldova and Iași in Romania will join the network in September 2024, while direct flights to Riga, Latvia, and Vilnius, Lithuania, are scheduled to begin in December 2025. With these additions, flydubai will operate to 35 destinations across 20 European countries.
This move marks flydubai’s first foray into the Baltic region and also makes it the first UAE-based airline to connect Dubai directly with Iași. All four routes will be supported by codeshare flights from Emirates, offering seamless connections through Dubai International Airport.
“The expansion of our network reflects our unwavering commitment to opening up underserved markets and stimulating free flows of trade and tourism,” said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith.
He added, “Today, we have built a diverse network of more than 135 destinations, 75 per cent of which are underserved routes from Dubai. With our new services to Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, we look forward to strengthening the UAE’s trade and cultural links.”
Flights to Chișinău and Iași will operate twice a week from Terminal 2, while Riga and Vilnius will see three weekly flights departing from Terminal 3.
Tickets can now be booked via the flydubai website, mobile app, contact center, or authorized travel agents.
