UAE debuts world’s first jet-powered firefighting drone at Expo 2025 in Japan

The UAE has taken a bold leap in emergency response technology with the unveiling of the world’s first jet-powered firefighting drone, ‘Suhail’, at the UAE Pavilion during Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

Designed to tackle fires with unmatched speed and precision, the advanced drone is equipped with next-generation computer vision and LiDAR-based 3D scanning, enabling it to map environments, detect hotspots, and navigate obstacles in real-time. Suhail’s vertical flight capability and smart systems allow it to access areas unreachable by conventional methods—especially critical in densely populated or high-rise zones.

Authorities confirmed that Suhail will officially enter service in the first quarter of 2025. The drone was tested with the assistance of UAE-based Drone First Building Services and the Sharjah Civil Defence, which had previously announced plans to deploy drones for high-rise fire incidents starting next year.
