Sharjah has taken another step toward a cleaner, greener future with the arrival of a new fully electric bus, now part of the emirate’s public transport network. The initiative, led by the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable mobility and adopt eco-conscious solutions across the city.
Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, and Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs, were present to receive the bus and review its state-of-the-art features. Designed in line with global standards, the vehicle is equipped with advanced technology aimed at maximizing energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
“This step is part of SRTA’s ongoing efforts to reduce the carbon footprint and provide environmentally friendly transportation options,” Al Othmani said, emphasizing that the new bus offers both comfort and safety for passengers.
SRTA confirmed that this is just the beginning. The authority is committed to gradually expanding its fleet of electric buses in the coming years, reinforcing Sharjah’s commitment to sustainable urban development and enhanced public service quality.
