Sharjah rolls out 5,600 Eid trips with more buses and shorter wait times

To meet the expected travel surge during the Eid Al Adha holiday, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has rolled out a comprehensive transport plan that includes deploying 180 buses across the city and enhancing water transport between Sharjah and Dubai.

SRTA announced that it will carry out approximately 5,600 trips over the four-day break, with buses running every 5 minutes during peak hours—significantly cutting down the usual 45-minute intervals. The goal is to provide faster, more efficient service to accommodate the influx of commuters.

Bus operations will span 12 routes, utilizing 104 buses covering 543 stops. Around 1,144 trips are scheduled daily to keep pace with demand. To further support this effort, SRTA will assign additional staff at major terminals like the Jubail Bus Station, which will remain open from early morning to late evening.

In a coordinated move with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, a special boat service will also operate during the holiday. Four daily trips will run between Sharjah’s Aquarium Station and Dubai’s Al Ghubaiba Station, providing a scenic and traffic-free alternative for inter-emirate travel.
