Rain showers sweep northern UAE, more expected in the coming days

Several areas across the northern and eastern UAE experienced light to heavy rainfall on Sunday as shifting weather systems impacted the region. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the downpour was triggered by the interaction between an eastern low-pressure system and a western high-pressure system, combined with an upper-air high-pressure extension.

Rain was recorded in Fujairah’s Wadi Al Abadla and Al Halat, Dibba-Masafi road, Masafi in Ras Al Khaimah, and parts of Sharjah, including Khor Fakkan and Al Ghounah.

The NCM expects the rain to continue on Monday, particularly in the eastern and northern parts of the country. Some coastal and inland areas may also see fog or light fog, especially in western regions.

Winds will vary between southeasterly and northeasterly directions, staying mostly light to moderate but may pick up during the day, raising dust. Wind speeds are forecasted to reach up to 35 km/h, while sea conditions will remain calm in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

From Tuesday to Thursday, residents can expect mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Winds will continue to be light to moderate, occasionally becoming active with dust-stirring gusts reaching up to 40 km/h midweek.

Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution during rainfall, especially near valleys and areas prone to water accumulation. Motorists are advised to follow safety protocols and keep updated through official weather advisories.
