The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has rolled out more than 10,000 air-conditioned rest areas across the UAE to support delivery service workers during the summer’s Midday Break, which runs from June 15 to September 15, 2025.
In partnership with government agencies and private sector players, the initiative aims to shield delivery riders from the intense midday heat by offering comfortable, shaded spaces during the break hours of 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.
This year’s effort marks a significant leap from last year’s 6,000 rest stations, highlighting the growing support for a sector that operates on constant mobility and precision. MoHRE emphasized the critical need for such support, noting that delivery workers often do not have fixed job sites and are exposed to harsh temperatures while fulfilling time-sensitive tasks.
The initiative is backed by government entities including Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre, and various Economic Development Departments, as well as Emarat. Key delivery platforms such as Talabat, Deliveroo, Noon, and Careem have also joined the campaign, along with restaurants, malls, cloud kitchens, and retail shops.
Interactive maps on delivery apps are now available to help workers locate the nearest rest spots. The stations are equipped with cooling facilities, hydration supplies, and other essential amenities to ensure worker safety and comfort.
MoHRE reminded employers that in addition to observing the Midday Break, they are required to provide shaded areas, cold drinking water in adequate quantities, first aid kits, and cooling systems at job sites.
The public is encouraged to report any violations through the Ministry’s hotline at 600590000, its smart app, or official website.
