The United Arab Emirates has offered its deepest sympathies to the Republic of India following the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad Airport, which claimed over 240 lives.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE expressed “its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government of India and the families of the victims,” reaffirming its solidarity with the Indian people during this time of national grief.
The crash, which occurred just seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad, has been described as one of the worst aviation disasters in recent history. The flight, bound for London, went down in a residential area near B.J. Medical College, killing nearly all 242 people on board and at least 28 others on the ground.
Among the victims were both Indian nationals and foreign passengers. The only confirmed survivor, British-Indian national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, managed to escape through an emergency exit and is currently in stable condition.
