Al Ain baked under extreme heat on Friday as temperatures soared to 50.1ºC, according to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The sweltering high was recorded at 12:30pm in Sweihan, a known hotspot in the country that previously hit an even higher 50.8ºC earlier this month on June 9. The reading marks one of the most intense temperature spikes of the summer so far.
As the country nears its peak summer period, authorities are urging residents to take extra care and minimize exposure to the heat. Health experts warn that sustained exposure to such extreme conditions can be dangerous, particularly for children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with pre-existing health conditions.
Residents are strongly advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak midday hours, and monitor vulnerable family members closely.
The NCM continues to monitor temperature trends as the UAE endures one of its hottest stretches this season.
