Cyber gang using fake restaurant and delivery links busted by Dubai Police

Dubai Police have arrested a cybercrime gang that tricked victims by impersonating well-known restaurants, delivery companies, and service providers through fake promotional links.

The suspects, now in custody, allegedly sent fraudulent messages via SMS and email designed to look like they were from trusted brands. These deceptive messages lured people into clicking links and submitting their banking details. “Once a victim clicks on the link and enters their banking information, the gang uses that data to withdraw funds,” police confirmed.

The Anti-Fraud Centre, in coordination with other authorities, tracked suspicious online behavior and analyzed the structure of the scam messages. Their investigation led to the arrest of the gang members and the confiscation of digital equipment used in their crimes.

Authorities reminded the public to be cautious with unsolicited messages, even if they seem to come from legitimate companies. Residents are urged to report suspicious links via the Dubai Police App’s ‘Police Eye’ feature or the eCrime platform.

The latest bust adds to a growing list of cybercrime crackdowns in the UAE. In recent months, police have dismantled multiple gangs posing as government officials and customer service agents. These criminals used tactics ranging from updating fake banking info to hacking through the UAE PASS system.

Officials continue to stress the importance of public awareness and timely reporting as they ramp up efforts to dismantle cybercriminal networks.
