Authorities in the UAE have foiled a major drug trafficking operation after discovering illegal pills hidden inside a construction excavator shipped from abroad.
In a dramatic late-night raid, the Ministry of Interior’s anti-narcotics team tracked two Arab nationals suspected of operating within a wider international drug network. The operation led officers to a shipping container that had arrived from Hamburg, Germany, carrying heavy machinery. Upon thorough inspection, officers found hundreds of packets of narcotic pills concealed within the internal parts of the excavator.
The ministry revealed that the suspects had already set up both storage and distribution networks within the country and had begun preparing the illicit substances for sale. A second location linked to the suspects was also raided, uncovering further preparations for domestic distribution.
Authorities stressed that the operation is part of the UAE’s intensified crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, with security agencies maintaining vigilant monitoring of suspicious cargo and networks attempting to exploit the country’s logistics systems.
