PNP goes beast mode: Rendon Labador leads crackdown on police belly fat

Content creator and fitness advocate Rendon Labador has been tapped by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to spearhead a 93-day fitness transformation program aimed at strengthening the physical readiness of officers across the country.

The initiative, launched under the Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG), is in line with the mandate of PNP Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III, who previously called for higher fitness standards in the police force. Under new regulations, officers who fail to meet the required fitness benchmarks within a year may face dismissal.

Labador shared that Brig. Gen. Marvin Joe Saro, the PCADG chief, personally enlisted his help during a visit to Camp Crame. During his assessment, Labador found that the existing fitness programs lacked consistency and structure.

“Ang naging problema, sabog-sabog ‘yung programa nila, hindi pare-pareho. Kanya-kanya,” he said in an interview with News5, pointing out that officers were simply left to choose from jogging, basketball, or Zumba—without a unified fitness strategy.

He also noted that while some police officers are motivated, others struggle with maintaining discipline, particularly when it comes to food and daily routines. Labador emphasized the need for a functional fitness program tailored to law enforcement work, moving away from routines like Zumba and Tae Bo, which, he said, may not appeal to everyone.

“Kung hindi ka functional, hindi mo magagamit ‘yung lakas mo,” he added, likening an unfit officer to a car with a powerful engine but flat tires.

The new program, according to Labador, will go beyond physical workouts. It will include professionally designed meal plans and close monitoring of participants. “Ako ang magbibigay ng programa, ako ang magbabantay, at ako ang magre-rekomenda ng kakainin nila,” he said.

As part of the broader goal, the fitness journey of the participating officers will be documented and shared with the public to rebuild trust and pride in the police force. “Papakita natin sa publiko ‘yung magiging transformation nila para mas ma-uplift natin ‘yung mga public servants natin,” Labador added.
