President Marcos assures support for Filipinos returning from conflict zones

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of Filipinos in conflict-hit areas, announcing that the Philippines has raised a voluntary repatriation alert in both Iran and Israel amid their ongoing hostilities.

As of now, around 200 Filipinos are being processed for repatriation, with Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac stationed in Jordan to personally oversee operations. Jordan lies between the two warring countries and serves as a strategic hub for repatriation logistics.

“I have directed all concerned government agencies to take the necessary steps to ensure the safe, timely, and orderly return of our Filipino workers who wish to avail of the voluntary repatriation program,” Marcos said in a public address.

The president also urged Filipinos still in Iran and Israel to stay in close contact with Philippine embassies in Tehran and Tel Aviv. “Please follow their guidance. Inform them of your situation and do not hesitate to ask for assistance,” he emphasized.

An initial group of eight Filipinos in Iran is scheduled for repatriation in the coming days.

Marcos also assured those returning home of comprehensive support packages, which include ₱150,000 in immediate financial aid, transportation and accommodation assistance, and access to skills training and job matching services. “For those who choose to stay home for good, we will be there to help,” he said, highlighting available start-up capital and livelihood programs for those who wish to begin new ventures.

Meanwhile, the government continues to monitor the condition of a Filipino worker in Israel who remains hospitalized after sustaining injuries during an Iranian air strike.
