Abu Dhabi warns public to avoid swimming in dangerous coastal zones

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have issued a stern warning to the public against swimming in restricted coastal areas, citing serious safety risks. The advisory, released on Monday, July 30, applies to waters stretching from Al Bahia Sea to Al Shalila.

The Abu Dhabi Police, in coordination with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, cautioned that these areas may harbor hidden dangers including strong currents, submerged hazards, and the absence of rescue services.

“Clear warning signs have been installed in these locations,” the police stated, reinforcing that any attempt to swim in these zones could lead to injury or drowning.

Parents, in particular, were urged to remain vigilant. Authorities reminded families to ensure their children are never left unsupervised near these waters and to encourage swimming only in approved zones with lifeguards present.

The reminder comes as summer temperatures draw more people to the coast, raising concerns about water-related accidents in unauthorized areas.
