Limited-edition coins pay tribute to Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid’s legacy

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched limited-edition gold and silver coins as a tribute to the ‘Zayed and Rashid’ campaign, commemorating the immense contributions of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in shaping the nation’s foundation and identity.

The newly minted coins serve as a reminder of the vision and unity that brought the UAE together, with each design capturing the likeness of the founding fathers on the front side. The 40-gram gold coin, with a 40 mm diameter, is exclusively available at the CBUAE headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, the larger 50-gram silver coin, which measures 50 mm in diameter, can be purchased online through the central bank’s official website.

Both coins feature the UAE national emblem on the reverse, along with inscriptions in Arabic and English of the bank’s name. The silver version also includes the phrase “Commemorative Coin” in Arabic.

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank, underscored the deep significance of the release. “We proudly announce the issuance of these commemorative coins, which embody the meanings of loyalty and belonging to the national legacy left by the founding leaders,” he said. He added that the campaign aims to reinforce the values of unity and progress established by Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid, and to spotlight key moments that continue to inspire the nation.

Balama reiterated the CBUAE’s ongoing commitment to preserving the UAE’s heritage and instilling the spirit of patriotism in future generations.
