Sharjah motorists to get 35% discount on traffic fines if paid within 60 days

Motorists in Sharjah now have the opportunity to save big on traffic fines, as the Sharjah Executive Council has approved a new discount scheme offering up to 35 percent off for those who settle violations promptly.

Chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the council, the decision was announced during the council’s weekly meeting on Tuesday. The initiative aims to encourage early payment and reduce the financial strain on residents.

Under the new policy, a 35% discount will be applied to traffic fines, vehicle impoundment periods, impoundment charges, and late payment penalties—provided the fines are paid within 60 days of the violation. Those who pay after the 60-day period but within one year are still eligible for a 25% discount. However, the scheme excludes serious traffic violations.

The council also addressed broader government strategies, reviewing public policies across departments and their alignment with Sharjah’s development vision.

In addition to traffic fine relief, the council reaffirmed its support for emerging businesses by granting partial fee exemptions to entrepreneurial ventures. A total of 88 projects backed by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation “Ruwad” will be exempt from 50% of government fees for two years, covering diverse sectors throughout the emirate.
