Sharjah Police reward top students with free driver’s licences in celebration of excellence

In a heartwarming tribute to academic achievement, Sharjah Police honored 20 of the emirate’s top high school graduates with a special gift: free driver’s licences under its pioneering ‘Licence of Excellence’ initiative.

The recognition ceremony, organized by the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, was attended by top officials including Brigadier General Jassim bin Hadda, Deputy Director General of Operations and Security Support, and Brigadier General Khalid Mohammed Al Kay, Director of the Licensing Department. Representatives from Sharjah Driving Institute and Belhasa Driving Center also lent their support.

The initiative, hailed as the first of its kind in the UAE, is aimed at rewarding exceptional students while promoting responsibility and community engagement.

“This initiative reflects our shared goal — between the police, schools, and the community — to support and empower our youth,” said Brigadier Al Kay. “When we reward excellence, we send a clear message that dedication and effort matter.”

Proud parents joined the celebration as certificates of recognition were awarded, with many expressing their deep appreciation for the gesture. The event also served as an opportunity for families to explore the services and training provided by partner driving centers.

Beyond the ceremonial fanfare, the initiative represents a broader vision by Sharjah Police to invest in the next generation. Brigadier Al Kay noted that other programs, including the streamlined ‘Licence in One Day’ offering, are part of this community-focused approach.
