The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have raised serious concerns over the growing number of Filipino nationals being trafficked through the United Arab Emirates, particularly via Dubai and Sharjah. Authorities say these areas are being used as gateways for illegal transit to destinations like Iraq and Kurdistan, with reports pointing to disturbing cases of white slavery.
In a joint statement, embassy and consulate officials urged all Filipinos in the UAE to stay vigilant and report any suspected cases of illegal recruitment or trafficking. They stressed that these preventive measures are part of a broader effort to shield Filipinos from exploitation.
“This is a collective responsibility. Protecting our people from human trafficking requires alertness and immediate reporting,” the statement emphasized.
Filipinos who have information or suspicions related to such activities are encouraged to reach out to Philippine authorities through their dedicated hotlines. Separate contact numbers are available for OFW-related and non-OFW-related concerns in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
