Students and educators in Dubai can now breathe a little easier when it comes to parking expenses, thanks to new discounted subscription plans introduced by Parkin Company PJSC.
Announced on Wednesday, the initiative includes a special seasonal parking permit for students, starting at just Dh100 per month. This allows access to roadside and plot parking across zones A, B, C, and D, within a 500-metre radius of the student’s campus.
Private school staff are also eligible for a similar Dh100 monthly subscription, aimed at providing affordable and accessible parking options near educational institutions.
Parkin, the city’s largest operator of paid public parking, also launched a separate multi-storey parking subscription starting at Dh735 per month. The offer, according to the company’s post on X (formerly Twitter), promises “convenient multi-storey parking near your home, workplace, or favourite destinations in Dubai.”
The move comes after the implementation of variable parking fees earlier this year, which caused a stir among drivers, especially in premium zones. These areas — typically near public transport hubs or within densely populated districts — now carry higher tariffs during peak hours, with some seeing fees triple.
In Al Barsha, for instance, a one-hour stay in a premium residential area now costs Dh6 during peak times, up from Dh2. Longer stays are even steeper, with four-hour parking jumping from Dh11 to Dh24.
Despite the price hikes, Parkin posted strong financials in Q1, with revenues hitting Dh273.3 million — a 27% increase from the same period last year, even before the new pricing system kicked in.
