Man ordered to pay woman AED 13,000 after assault and theft in Abu Dhabi

A court in Abu Dhabi has ordered a man to pay a total of Dhs13,000 in damages to a woman he assaulted and robbed, following a ruling by the Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court.

The victim had filed a civil lawsuit after the man attacked her, stole electronic devices including a mobile phone, and left her with injuries that prevented her from working for up to 20 days. He was previously found guilty in a separate criminal case involving the same incident.

In her claim, the woman sought Dhs30,000, covering Dhs11,000 for the value of the stolen items and Dhs19,000 for compensation due to physical, emotional, and financial harm, including legal costs. The court asked for clarification on the compensation breakdown before proceeding.

After reviewing the case, the court determined the value of the stolen items to be around Dhs10,000 and granted an additional Dhs3,000 for moral and material damages. The man was ordered to pay both amounts to the plaintiff.
