Ambassador Ver hails deepening Philippines-UAE ties on 127th Independence Day

As the Philippines celebrates its 127th Independence Day, Ambassador Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver underscored not only the enduring meaning of Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan (Freedom, Future, History) but also the remarkable evolution of the Philippines’ relationship with the United Arab Emirates.

“This year’s celebration is particularly significant,” Ambassador Ver said, highlighting the strengthened bilateral ties following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s official visit to the UAE in November 2024. The visit resulted in landmark agreements that set the stage for cooperation in key sectors including trade and investment, renewable energy, digital innovation, and public safety.

According to Ver, these agreements go beyond diplomacy — they reflect shared ambitions for sustainable growth and digital transformation. He emphasized the alignment between the UAE’s leadership in smart technologies and the Philippines’ emerging role in innovation, where Filipino professionals are making impactful contributions.

“Filipinos in the UAE — as IT professionals, engineers, creatives, and innovators — are contributing meaningfully in these advanced fields,” he noted, calling it a reflection of the Filipino spirit of excellence and resilience.

The ambassador also praised the Filipino community’s active role in the UAE’s “Year of Community,” saying their contributions now span both traditional roles and the expanding knowledge-based economy. He stressed that their presence not only enriches UAE society but also strengthens the foundation of Philippines-UAE relations.

As the country honors the sacrifices of its heroes, Ver called on Filipinos to embrace the shared duty of shaping a future built on freedom, partnership, and progress.

“Mabuhay ang Pilipinas at UAE!” he declared.
