Temperatures soar across UAE with highs nearing 47°C

The UAE is in for a warm and slightly hazy day, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasting generally fair weather and partly cloudy skies in some areas.

Clouds are expected to form toward the east, potentially becoming convective by afternoon. As night falls and into early Friday morning, humidity will rise significantly, raising the likelihood of fog or mist developing in certain coastal and inland spots. The NCM has already issued red and yellow alerts for fog in affected areas.

Temperatures continue to soar across the country, with highs of 47°C expected in internal regions and lows around 23°C. Abu Dhabi can anticipate a peak of 42°C and a low of 29°C, while Dubai’s temperatures will range from 30°C to 40°C. Sharjah is forecasted to hit a high of 41°C.

Light to moderate winds may pick up strength westward, reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h, possibly stirring up dust and sand. Sea conditions are forecasted to be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

This comes just days before the official start of summer on Saturday, June 21, marked by the summer solstice—when the sun reaches its highest and most northern point in the sky. Earlier this week, on June 17, the mercury soared to a scorching 50.5°C in Sweihan, Al Ain, recorded at 2:30 PM, according to the NCM.
