Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has wrapped up a major traffic improvement project in Business Bay, rolling out several upgrades designed to cut congestion, improve road capacity, and boost safety in the bustling district.
Among the key changes was the transformation of a two-lane, two-way street running parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road into a one-way dual carriageway. With fresh signage and clear markings, this shift has doubled the road’s capacity and significantly reduced traffic bottlenecks.
Another major enhancement took place at the junction of Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street, where a 100-metre-long storage lane was added. The new lane has increased right-turn capacity toward First Al Khail Street by 50 percent, slashing wait times and easing intersection congestion.
To handle the growing volume of vehicles near residential towers, the RTA also reorganized the service road along Al Mustaqbal Street and introduced an extra lane—effectively boosting road capacity by about 50 percent.
Additionally, the entrance to the bridge over the Dubai Water Canal on Al Mustaqbal Street heading toward First Al Khail Street was expanded from one lane to two. The result: a smoother traffic flow during peak hours and improved access along one of Business Bay’s busiest routes.
