Commuters in Ajman will soon pay slightly more for taxi rides, as the cost per kilometer is set to increase in response to rising fuel prices across the UAE.
According to the taxi operator, the new rate for July will be Dh1.76 per kilometer, up from Dh1.74 in June. The adjustment comes after the UAE’s Fuel Price Committee confirmed higher petrol and diesel rates for the new month.
Super 98 petrol now costs Dh2.70 per litre, Special 95 is priced at Dh2.58, and E-Plus 91 is selling for Dh2.51. Diesel also saw a jump, reaching Dh2.63 per litre—up from Dh2.45 last month.
The fuel hike reflects the impact of global oil trends earlier in June, when prices surged amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, a dramatic shift occurred last week, with oil posting its steepest weekly loss in two years.
Prices dropped roughly 13% following a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran, which calmed supply fears from the oil-rich region. West Texas Intermediate crude hovered around $65 a barrel on Monday.
While markets remain cautious, some experts see potential relief ahead. Analysts believe that the upcoming OPEC+ meeting could bring another significant supply boost, helping to stabilize prices.
