Returning OFWs now allowed to resume work in Israel as PH eases travel restrictions

The Philippine government has lifted its ban on the return of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Israel, allowing those on vacation in the Philippines to head back and resume their employment.

However, travel remains restricted for newly hired workers, tourists, and pilgrims. The easing of the restriction follows the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) decision to downgrade the alert status in Israel to Level 2 from the previous Level 3, citing “positive developments in Israel’s security situation.”

Under Alert Level 2, Filipinos in Israel are advised to limit non-essential movement, avoid public spaces, remain prepared for possible evacuation, and maintain contact with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate.

The DFA’s move signals cautious optimism after tensions in the region had previously prompted tighter safety measures. In a statement earlier, the Philippine government welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, calling it “a step towards de-escalation and creating an environment conducive to regional stability.”

There are an estimated 30,000 Filipino workers in Israel, many of whom are employed as caregivers and in the hospitality sector.
