Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed major traffic improvement works at the intersection of Al Wasl and Al Manara Streets, delivering significant relief to one of the city’s busiest junctions.
Among the enhancements is a newly added lane for vehicles heading from Al Manara Street toward Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as a dedicated U-turn lane to help smooth traffic flow in the same direction. With these additions, the number of lanes at the intersection has been increased to three, resulting in a 50% boost in road capacity.
According to the RTA, these changes have already led to a 30% drop in vehicle waiting time at the intersection. The new U-turn lane has also benefited motorists coming from Sheikh Zayed Road toward Al Wasl and Al Manara Streets, where waiting times have been slashed by up to 35%.
These works are part of the RTA’s 2025 Traffic Improvement Plan, a citywide initiative aimed at upgrading road infrastructure in residential and high-traffic zones to improve safety and connectivity. Areas covered under the broader plan include Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, and Al Safa.
In addition to intersection enhancements, the RTA is also pushing forward with upgrades in Nad Al Sheba 3 and 4, including the development of new parking spaces near key community facilities like schools, mosques, and parks, in line with Dubai’s continued urban expansion and its goal of improving quality of life.
