Abu Dhabi Police share shocking crash footage to warn against distracted driving

Abu Dhabi Police have released a video showing a series of violent road accidents caused by drivers distracted by their mobile phones. The warning comes as part of Gulf Traffic Week, an awareness campaign highlighting dangerous driving habits across the region.

The 57-second clip features three separate incidents where motorists lost control of their vehicles after failing to react in time due to phone use. In one crash, a speeding grey sedan slams into a white car before flipping over and landing upside down. Another clip shows a luxury vehicle crashing into slow-moving traffic and swerving into other lanes, while a third scene captures a driver flipping their car after hitting a raised median.

Authorities reminded the public that distracted driving remains one of the leading causes of road accidents in the UAE. In Abu Dhabi, using a mobile phone while driving carries a Dh800 fine and four black points. In Dubai, stricter measures have been introduced, including a 30-day vehicle impoundment for similar violations.
