Creative minds across the UAE now have a chance to see their designs light up the iconic Burj Khalifa, with Emaar launching an open call for projection designs that will be showcased on the world’s tallest building. According to a Khaleej Times report, the winning entry will also receive a grand prize of Dh100,000.
From May 6 to 26, artists, designers, and animators are encouraged to submit original video or animation projections that capture the spirit of Dubai — blending innovation, creativity, and cultural vibrancy. The final winning design will be displayed on the towering façade of Burj Khalifa, offering global exposure to the creator.
Participants are required to ensure that their submissions align with specific technical specifications, including video resolution, format, and mapping guidelines, to guarantee a flawless projection experience. Detailed instructions and submission guidelines can be found on the Burj Khalifa website.
Highlighting Emaar’s commitment to fostering creativity, Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, stated, “We believe that talent knows no boundaries. Burj Khalifa stands not only as a symbol of human achievement but also as a canvas for creativity and innovation — open to everyone with a talent to share.”
The contest is part of Emaar’s ongoing efforts to celebrate creativity, following the recent upgrade of the Burj Khalifa’s façade lighting system, which made its debut during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations in December 2024.
Those interested in participating can send their projection designs along with a brief concept description explaining the inspiration behind the work to opencall@emaar.ae.
